I think most outdoor lighting systems are initially located to provide safety and security when you are in the garden at night. So pathways and driveways are obvious locations for lighting. If you want to walk in the garden without tripping over the football left out by your son then pathway lighting is a good choice. Other areas include areas that may be potentially dangerous to children and adults alike. Ponds and pools will probably have some form of lighting to warn people. You may also think about installing light in areas of the home where it is dark and could be taken advantage of by a thief. Solar outdoor lighting is an ideal choice for many of these lighting roles. The major benefits of solar lighting systems is that they are simple. They are easy to install. simply take them out of the box and plant them in the ground. When the sun goes down and the battery is fully charged they will light up. The light will last throughout the night and switch off automatically during the day. During the day the photo voltaic cell in the light housing will recharge the battery and so the cycle goes. No need to worry about electrical cables or wires. No need to dig up the garden to connect the lights up to the mains. Simple. Apart from the practical nature of outdoor landscaping lights there should also be an indulgent side to them. You want to make your garden look stunning at night. This will evolve over time as you start to figure out what you are really proud of in your garden. Maybe you have a pond and fountain feature that you want to be lit up during the night. Or maybe you have some exotically colored plants that you want to show off. There are many different types of lighting that can fit into these roles. For back lighting of plants and garden features, you want a system that will throw light out and thus illuminate the shapes and colors of your garden. For lighting around the patio or decks, you probably want a design that matches the existing style. You also want to make sure that the lighting is powerful enough to illuminate the whole area. Outdoor landscaping lighting for special occasions can be temporary system. A great way to create an enchanted garden look is to decorate trees with party light or even bamboo lanterns. If you live in warmer climates, lighting that puts out insect repellent as they burn are also a good idea. Many of these lighting systems are fairly cheap and you can try different varieties in different locations in the yard. If you get a new feature you could play around with the lighting to make the garden look as interesting at night as it does during the day. |
